FAQs

Who are you? I am a Three Rivers artist, full time at my profession since 1993, concentrating on what makes Tulare County special. (Special in a good way!)

Why are you writing this blog? This blog’s purpose is to share how The Cabins of Wilsonia came about.

Since you have a cabin in Mineral King, why don’t you do a book about them? I did. The Cabins of Mineral King was written, designed and published with Jane Coughran in 1998.

How can I see the Mineral King book? It has completely sold out, but sometimes you can get lucky on Amazon or eBay and find a copy for the amazing approximate price of $100. And the Tulare County library has a few copies.

Why do you care about Wilsonia cabins? Historic cabin communities are treasures in today’s world. They need to be celebrated, documented, enjoyed, preserved, recognized and celebrated! (Oh, I already said that. Guess I really really believe it!)

Is it a history book? That has been done already by historian Fern Tripp and in the National Register application. Nope. It is a “present” book – “present” as in “current” rather than “gift”, although it certainly does make a nice gift.

How do I get a book? By clicking on the cabins of wilsonia book, or going to Amazon or using the contact button above to email me or mailing a check using the Postal Service.

May I buy the original drawings? Yes you can! This page on my other website is where they are available. Since there are about 278 in the book, they aren’t all on the site. Yet. Or maybe ever. TWO HUNDRED SEVENTY EIGHT? Yep.

May I commission you to draw my cabin? Yes you may! My prices are based on size, rather than complexity. (If cabins were made of bricks, I might have to change that policy.)

Is the book expensive? The book is $50, including tax and shipping. It has been out for just over 3 years, and reducing the price seems to be the way it is done in the world of books.

How can I subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of posts in my email? If you contact me (via the contact button at the top of the blog) and say you’d like to subscribe, I will sign you up. You will receive the first paragraph or so and a link to the blog.

My parents own a cabin on Cedar Lane. The house number is 83682, it is the first cabin on the right on Cedar Lane coming up from the dumpsters. Have you drawn this one? I would love to buy a copy if you have. If not, I would love to commission you to draw a picture of our cabin for us.

Please let me know if you are still available to draw. If our cabin is in your book, I would like to buy a copy.

    Thank you,

    Kathie Bailey
